1. What is a daguerrotype?-A photograph taken by an early process employing an iodine-sensitized silvered plate and mercury vapor. What did the surface of a daguerrotype resemble?- A mirror-like copper plate, covered with a layer of iodine. When were they prominent?-The are prominnemt when they are exposed to light. What photographic process did the daguerrotype replace? -They replaced the ambrotype process.
 
2. What is an "albumen" print?-Its a silver plate that, that is developed from a negetive. What was the main "ingredient" of the albumen process?- the main ingredient is cotton then covered in egg whites. When did the albumen process die out?
 
3. What is a "stereograph?"-A sterepgraph shows depth in a photo. When were they popular?-They were popular during 1849-1850.
 
4. What is a "carte de visite?"-Its a small picture using the albumen process. What were they used for? They were used to trade with family, friends, guests.














5. Who were Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner?-they were photographers They both are notable for what type of photography?-They took photos of the civil war. When were they active?-1860's Post two noteworthy photographs for each photographer.
